Though many are aware of the late 20s Saturn Return, not as many know about the Saturn opposition around age 13/14. I remember this age myself as a desperate time, and a turningpoint when my life took a nosedive. At 14, Saturn (in Libra) opposed my first house Saturn in Aries. Normal teen angst became self-hatred, and began a years-long struggle with depression and an eating disorder.
Saturn's role is to bear down so a maturation process happens, as we dig deeper for discipline to make it through a tough time. But as Lynn Hayes of Beliefnet points out, today's 13-14 year olds are dealing with the added pressure of Pluto (in square to Saturn). In her article on Teen Depression and Violence, she writes, "This means that not only is Saturn stressing their charts, but Pluto is doing so as well. Pluto, in its role as the god of death, rebirth and transformation, can bring into our lives intense experiences that tear down our defenses and rebuild our seat of empowerment within."
Some teens are overwhelmed by the pressure and explode with violence or implode through suicide. Lynn found that a search for "teen suicides" showed more in this age group, than any other. She's written this as an alert to parents/teachers, so they'll have a heads-up. It's an important article for anyone with a young teen in their life.

It seems very natural to merge yoga with astrology, as "heavenly bodies and our bodies moving in harmony." The inspiration for Yogastrology came to Diane Booth Gilliam as a yogini in India. At a full Moon fire ceremony yanga, she sensed the ancient correlation between yoga and astrology.
She's designed a special practice for each Zodiac sign based on its traditional associations. For Aquarius this month, it's ankles for strength and unity. You can download it via iTunes, or listen to a sample on Yogichocolate.com.
Diane gives a simple explanation of What is Yogastrology, describing the planets as living entities. I did Mountain Pose this morning, as part of the 8 minute Aquarius practice. It's a moving meditation that can make "the living entities" more real for us, as we sense their currents in our own bodies.

From a relaxing salt bath to Pink Yarrow flower essence, Seattle-based holistic astrologer Stephanie Gailing of Planetary Apothecary returns with an Aquarius wellness prescription. She's written this Rx especially for this moment, with an eye on building tensions later this month.
There's a need to de-stress and relax, but also to find expression for pent up burning needs and desires. Stephanie writes, "This is especially important as we move towards the end of January, with energies heightened of the Aquarius/Leo Full Moon (January 30) and the alignment of Pluto and Saturn (January 31) occurring within one day of each other."

Because the Sun's influence is so powerful, it's possible to feel its shift into a new Zodiac sign. Today the Sun goes into Aquarius, bringing with it a sense of s p a c e! Aquarius has a lighter, freer vibe, with more leeway for each to pursue their version of happiness.
It draws us into the social sphere, but in a less serious, more easygoing way. It's a sign of friends, making it timely for circles, clubs and parties. With the shocking -- and liberating -- urgency of the times we're in, new ties and groups spontaneously form to share ideas about humanity's future.
Even if you're carrying the same heavy load of responsibilities, the rays of Sun in Aquarius invite a sense that "anything is possible." Unexpected solutions or opportunities could come out of the blue. In such an uncertain time, having your psychic antennae clear is very important. This is a month when you may get intuitive hits that show you pathways that weren't in your sightline before. You can strengthen that connection, as a conduit between heaven and earth, by staying clear of too many frequencies.
